About the Land

I’m Carolyn Crane, a writer, a teacher, land steward, and amateur permaculturist living in SE Michigan. I am a harbinger of hope as we all work together to shift the paradigm in the 21st century. As I rewild my land, I am preparing to make it a demonstration destination so that those in the area can see how to work with pollinators and natural landscapes rather than fight them. As we navigate the challenging terrain of the 2020s, it’s more vital than ever that we offer our authentic selves to save and celebrate our planet and all its inhabitants. Please follow me on my journey as I continue to nourish and transform five key zones on this gorgeous wetland that slopes down to the Saline River.

Welcome Sawyer, Our 2024 Intern!

This year’s intern is Sawyer Stribley. Sawyer lives in Ann Arbor and attends Washtenaw Community College. He’s an honor student majoring in Mathematics and Natural Sciences with a focus on Public Health. When he leaves us this fall he’ll be a sophomore. After another year at WCC, he plans on transferring to University of Michigan to get his degree in Public Health Science.
